DELAWARE, Ohio -- Seniors Lindsey Mikula (Rocky River) and Heather Keller (Parma) both tallied one goal as the Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team defeated host Ohio Wesleyan University, 2-0, on the Roy Rike Field.
With its victory, the Yellow Jackets improved their record to 6-1 overall while the Battling Bishops dropped to 2-5 overall with their loss.
After a scoreless first half, Baldwin Wallace opened the scoring in the 49th-minute with a goal from midfielder Mikula from the penalty marker. The goal was her second of the season.
The Yellow Jackets doubled their lead in the 71st-minute when forward Keller scored her third goal of the season.
In goal for BW, sophomore Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) faced eight shots, including four on-goal, allowed zero goals for her first shutout of the season and made four saves as she improved to 5-1 overall.
The Yellow Jackets outshot the Battling Bishops by an 24-8 count and had a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Tuesday, Sept. 24 when they travel to Bethany, West Virginia to play Bethany College at 7:00 p.m.
