No. 5 Wrestling Remains Undefeated in OAC with Victory over Wilmington

BEREA, Ohio – The No. 5 nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace University team stayed unbeaten in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings as it defeated Wilmington College by a final score of 49-3 in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (11-2, 3-0 OAC) took an early lead as junior No. 2 nationally-ranked 125 pounder Jacob Decatur (Akron/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy), who is this week's OAC wrestler of the Week and sophomore 133-pounder Johnny Novak (Cleveland/St. Ignatius) won their weight classes as Wilmington (0-7, 0-3 OAC) had to forfeit.

The Yellow Jackets got pinfalls from junior 141-pounder Conner DeBoe (Mentor) over Garrett Simmons in 56 seconds, sophomore 149-pounder Justin Ritchie (Carlisle) over Adrian Salamone in 2:42, senior All-American and No. 9 nationally-ranked 165-pounder Dalton Leightner (Ravenna/Rootstown) over Trey Williams in 3:24 and sophomore 197-pounder Mitch Sanders (Newbury) over Dillon Howard in 49 seconds. 

BW earned technical fall victories by senior All-American 157-pounder Stanley Bleich (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic) over Patrick Kelly by a score 20-5 and senior Academic All-OAC 184-pounder Aidan Cardaman (Geneva) over Skyler Cowgill by a score of 15-0

The Yellow Jacket picked up a decision win by freshman 174-pounder Carter Lloyd (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) over Alex Hobbs by a score of 11-6

BW is back in action on Saturday, January 22 when it travels to New Concord to compete in the OAC Duals against No. 24 John Carroll University, host Muskingum University and Ohio Northern University in the Performance Arena inside the Anne. C. Steel Center at 10 a.m.
