McHugh Garners First Career OAC Wrestler of the Week Accolade

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC 149-pound wrestler Tanner McHugh (New Ringgold, Pa./Tamaqua) has been named the OAC Wrestler of the Week for the first time in his career.

McHugh becomes the second straight BW wrestler and the third of the season to garner the weekly accolade.  He earns his first career honor after winning four matches and leading the No. 11 nationally-ranked Yellow Jackets to a 3-1 record at the Kalahari Duals hosted by Heidelberg University.  He opened the duals with a pinfall in 5:43 over Cortez Bradley of Defiance College.  McHugh then earned a 15-12 decision victory over Isaac Hawkins of Trine (Ind.) University.  He picked up a 4-3 decision victory over Landyn Vanwyk of Adrian (Mich.) College.  McHugh closed out the day with a 12-7 decision victory over Eli Mondrella of No. 18 nationally-ranked University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh.

This season, he has a record of 14-4 with one pin, one technical fall and 12 wins by decision. 

For his career, McHugh is tied for 26th in school history with 79 wins with just 35 defeats.  He has recorded 10 major decisions, five pinfalls and one technical fall.

BW is back in action on Thursday and Friday, January 6 and 7 when it travels to Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals at the Kentucky Expo Center.
