Reigning OAC Champion Wrestling Team Tabbed to Finish First in Preseason Poll

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The three-time defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team has been tabbed to finish first in preseason voting by coaches.

BW has been selected to finish first for the fourth consecutive season, receiving 49 points and seven first place votes. University Mount Union finished second with 42 points and one first place vote. Rounding out the top five was Ohio Northern University with 36 points, Heidelberg University with 31 points, and John Carroll University with 27 points.

Eighth-year Head Coach Jamie Gibbs and reigning OAC Coach of the Year for the third straight season, returns 15 letterwinners, one All-American, and six national qualifiers from last year's team that won its third consecutive OAC Championship. Gibbs led the Yellow Jackets to a 19-2 overall record and 6-0 conference mark and went on to win the NCAA Division lll Central Regional Championship and placed 15th at the NCAA Championships.

BW opens the 2018-19 season with a match against OAC counterpart, Mount Union on Tuesday November 13 at 7 p.m.
