Gunter Earns Second OAC Wrestler of the Week Honor in 2015-16

BEREA, Ohio — Baldwin Wallace University senior two-time Division III All-American and  NWCA Scholar All-American Jesse Gunter (Akron/ Coventry), ranked No. 3 at 133 pounds in Div. III, is this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week.  He earned the award for the second time this season and fourth time in his career.

Gunter had a perfect 4-0 record, including a win over the No.8-ranked 133-pounder and a pin, as BW had a 3-1 record. Gunter, who also had two forfeit victories, is now 19-1 this season and 105-12 during his career. He previously won the OAC Wrestler of the Week award twice as a freshman in 2012-2013 and earlier this season, on January 5, for his 4-0 mark at the December 21, 2015 Las Vegas (Nev.) Duals, including a win against the No.2-ranked 133-pounder at the time for No.1-ranked Wartburg (Iowa) College.

In addition to being an outstanding wrestler, Gunter is a student who carries a 3.3 grade point average in special education. He is a two-time NWCA Scholar All-American and a three-time All-OAC competitor.

Gunter and the Yellow Jacket wrestlers are back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, January 26 when they host OAC-rival Muskingum University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 7:30 p.m. This Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29-30, the BW wrestlers travel to Wheaton, Illinois to participate in the Wheaton College Pete Willson Tournament.
