Wrestling All-American Gunter Named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 At-Large Team

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior three-time Division III All-American wrestler Jesse Gunter (Akron/Coventry) have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 At-Large team. Gunter now qualifies for the CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America ballot. 

Gunter, a four-year-letterwinner, is BW's first-ever four-time All-OAC selection, including a three-time first-team pick.  He already completed his education degree requirements and is now working on obtaining an accounting degree as well as a Master's in Accounting.  Gunter had a 3.45 grade point average.  He is a three-time National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American.  Gunter was a four-time OAC Wrestler-of-the-Week. He was the Haier Achievement National Collegiate Student-Athlete for the Month in February.  Gunter was honored with a proclamation by the Ohio House of Representatives last July for his academic and athletics achievements.  He was BW's recipient of the OAC Clyde Lamb Award and the Kenneth Steingass Award recipient, which is given to school's most outstanding male student-athlete.  Gunter ranks second all-time in school history with a career record of 121-15. 

The Yellow Jackets set a school-record wins a season at 18 and finished with an overall record of 18-8 overall.  BW was a perfect 5-0 in OAC competition and claimed their first OAC title since 1973. The Yellow Jackets also placed an all-time best second at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Tournament.
