BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION: Joey Schmidt is competing in his third season of wrestling at Baldwin Wallace University in 2014-2015. He hopes to earn his third varsity letter.
ATHLETICS HONORS: As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Joey was named as the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week on December 16, 2013.
GENERAL WRESTLING INFORMATION: As a freshman in 2012-2013, Joey competed in his first season of wrestling and earned his first varsity letter. He was the starting 149-pounder for most of the season and compiled a 17-15 record with six pins. He also had 29 takedowns, 17 escapes, one reversal and 12 total near falls. BW finished 4-4 overall in dual matches.
As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Joey competed in his second season of wrestling and earned his second letter. He was the starting 149-pounder. Joey was named as the Ohio Athletic Conference wrestler of the Week on December 16, 2013. He had a 20-10 record with seven pins and one technical fall despite missing part of the season due to an injury. Joey had 28 takedowns, 18 escapes and 11 total near falls. BW finished 8-3 in dual matches and 22nd at the 2014 NCAA Division III National Tournament.
As a junior in 2014-2015, Joey is competing in his third season of wrestling and hopes to earn his third varsity letter.

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION: Joey Schmidt grew up in Hinckley, Ohio and graduated from Brunswick High School in the spring of 2012.
Joey wrestled for four years and earned four letters, lettered twice in soccer and played football.
In wrestling, Joey placed third at the Northeast Ohio Conference Tournament and was an OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association) District qualifier.
Academically, Joe was a fine student who carried a 3.5 grade point average.
