BW Grapplers Fall to No. 17-Ranked Ohio Northern University

ADA, OHIO –  The Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team lost tonight to No. 17-ranked Ohio Northern University, 26-12, in an Ohio Athletic Conference in the ONU Sports Center.

With the loss, BW dropped to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the OAC. With the win, Ohio Northern improved to 15-2 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the OAC.

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman 125-pounder Jesse Gunter (Akron/Coventry), junior 141-pounder Andrew Taylor (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) and freshman 157-pounder Garrett Chase (Erie, Pa./ Cathedral Prep) all won by decision.

, who is ranked fifth individually in the latest NCWA (National Wrestling Coaches Association)/ Brute-adidas poll, is defeated Jerry Pasquale, 8-2.  He is now 28-2 overall and 4-0 in the OAC. 

Taylor defeated Shaun Lee by a final score of 16-10.  Taylor improved to 20-16 overall and 2-2 in the OAC.

Chase, who has a team-leading 32 victories, defeated Jeff Stover, 3-1.  He is now 32-12 overall record and a 3-1 in the OAC.

Also winning, freshman 165-pounder David Shapiro (Beachwood) defeated Tyler Gargano in a tie breaker, 2-1.  Shapiro improved to 26-14 overall and 2-2 in the OAC.  

BW is back in action next Tuesday, February 12 when it ends the season by hosting OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 7:30 p.m.
