BW Wrestlers Fall to Heidelberg, 36-6

TIFFIN, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team lost its 2012-2013 Ohio Athletic Conference season-opening dual match to host Heidelberg University, 36-6, in the Seiberling Gymnasium. 

With its loss, BW dropped to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets next compete on Tuesday, Jan. 22 in its home-opener against OAC-rival the University of Mount Union in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 7:30 p.m. With its win, the Student Princes improve to 7-6 overall and 1-0 in the OAC.

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshmen 125-pounder Jesse Gunter (Akron/Coventry) who won by decision over Ryan Hornack 6-5. Gunter improved his overall record to 21-1 on the season and has won 19 straight matches.

Also winning for BW, was freshmen 157-pounder Garrett Chase (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) who by decision over Aaron Banko, 7-2. Chase is now is 26-8 overall and has won five of his last six matches.

Following its match next Tuesday versus Mt. Union, BW travels to Greenville, Pennsylvania to compete at the annual Mel Berry Duals at Thiel College on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 10:00 a.m.
