Women’s Lacrosse Falls in OAC Semifinal Game at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team was defeated 11-4 in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal game against the University of Mount Union inside Mount Union Stadium.

BW (11-7) was led by, senior attack Emma Harding (Akron / Richfield) who scored a team-high two goals in her final collegiate game. Along with Harding, sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Giordanengo (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) made a career-high tying 10 goals.

Mount Union (14-3) was led by, senior midfielder Emily Bergert who scored a game-high four goals. Along with Bergert, sophomore midfielder Marjie McNamara scored three goals and added one assist for four points.

The Yellow Jackets scored the first goal of the game when sophomore attack Caitlin Wheeler (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park-River Forest) scored at the 20:46 mark. The Purple Raiders answered with a 4-0 run to make it 4-1 when McNamara scored with 3:05 left in the half. BW cut the Mount Union to 4-2 before halftime when Harding netted her 34th goal of the season with 58 seconds left.  

The Purple Raiders went on a 4-0 run to extend its lead to 8-2 when senior midfielder Taylor Pensyl scored at the 16:04 mark. The Yellow Jackets cut the Mount Union lead to 9-4 when Harding netted her second goal of the game with 1:40 left in the second half. The Purple Raiders scored the final two goals of the game.

BW finishes the year with an overall record of 11-7.  On Saturday, May 7 Mount Union will host Capital University in the OAC Tournament championship game inside Mount Union Stadium at a time to be announced.
