Women’s Lacrosse Garners IWLCA Academic Honors

2016 IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads | 2016 Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll

GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team has been named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for the fourth consecutive year and four individuals have been named to the 2016 Zag Sports IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll for the 2015-2016 academic year.

To be named an Academic Honor Squad a team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team grade point average for the year. In order to be named to the IWLCA Honor Roll an individual must be a junior, senior or graduate student and earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

BW finished the year with a 3.20 GPA and were one of 276 NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA institutions to earn the honor.

"I am exceptionally proud of our team and student-athletes for their effort in the classroom and on the field," said fourth-year Head Coach Kim Russell. "We are building a women's lacrosse program here at BW that strives to be the best both academically and athletically.  Earning this honor in the program's first four years and having our team GPA improve, is proof of the kind of program we want to have here at BW."

The four student-athletes selected to the Academic Honor Roll by the IWLCA were 2017 seniors Maddie Russell (Lakewood /Rocky River) and Jenna Turner (Carmel, Ind.) along with 2016 graduates Emma Harding (Akron /Richfield) and Allyson Helleis (Rocky River).  Russell, Turner, Harding and Helleis were also tabbed as Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference earlier this season.

BW finished the year with a 11-7 overall record, 4-3 OAC record and advanced to the OAC semifinal game.
