Women’s Lacrosse Comeback Falls Short in OAC Opener Versus Capital

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin University women's lacrosse team was defeated by Capital University 7-6 in an Ohio Athletic Conference game on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium this afternoon.

BW (7-4, 0-1 OAC) was led by sophomore midfielder Kayla Miller (Hudson) who recorded her seventh hat trick of the season with three goals. Along with Miller, junior midfielder Katie Kocher (Rocky River) tallied up three assists.

Capital (6-3, 1-0 OAC) was led by junior midfielder Korri Titus scored two and added two assists for four points. Along with Titus sophomore midfielder Kara Tines added three goals.  

The Crusaders took a 4-1 lead when senior midfielder Kim Hoer beat the BW goalkeeper with 9:02 left in the first half. The Yellow Jackets cut the Capital lead to 4-2 before halftime when Miller scored her team leading 30th goal of the season at the 3:45.

In the second half the Crusaders increases its lead to 7-2 when junior midfielder Kori Titus converted the free position shot at the 15:56 mark. BW went on a 4-0 to cut the Capital lead to 7-6 when Miller completed the hat trick at the 3:36 mark, but the Crusaders held on for the victory.

Taylor Giordanengo (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) made six saves in the losing effort.  

The Yellow Jackets travel to New Concord on Wednesday, April 13 to face Muskingum University in an OAC game on Sherman Field inside McConagha Stadium at 5 p.m.
