COLUMBIA STATION, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team opened the 2018-19 season as it placed fourth at is very own Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Mallard Creek Golf Club.
BW was fourth of four teams with 727 strokes on the par-72 and 5,850 Mallard Creek layout. Mount Union was the champion with 686 strokes.
The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman Kelly Linnabary (Westerville/Central) as she finished sixth with rounds of 83 and 92 for a collegiate debut total of 175. Freshman Leah Metzger (Ashland) finished tied for 12th as she posted rounds of 87 and 93 for a collegiate debut total of 180. Senior Grace Magee (Skaneateles, N.Y.) carded rounds of 86 and 99 for two-day total of 185. Sophomore Rachael Sladky (North Olmsted) as she had rounds of 93 and 94 for a tournament total of 187. Rounding out the top five was junior Emily Hunt (Marysville) tallied rounds of 94 and 99 for a two-round total of 193
Playing as individuals were senior Erinn Maynard (New London), junior Hannah Durst (Madison), sophomores Aubrey Baumler (Huron) and Maria Simon (Santa Cruz, BOLIVIA/Santa Cruz Cooperative School) and freshmen Mary Fraley (Cleveland/Mayfield) and Alex Wiedemann (Medina). Simon led the individuals as she fired a career-low round of 92 and 107 for a two-day total of 199. Maynard carded rounds of 97 and 103 for a two-round total of 200. Durst posted rounds of 102 and 103 for a tournament total of 205. Wiedemann tallied rounds of 102 and 103 for a collegiate debut total of 205. Baumler finished with rounds of 116 and 112 for a total of 228. Fraley had rounds of 154 and 184 for a collegiate debut total of 338.
BW is back in action on Sunday, September 9 when it travels to Alliance to compete in the University of Mount Union Fall Invitational at the Tannenhauf Golf Club.
