Women’s Golf Takes Fourth at Season Opening Yellow Jacket Invitational

COLUMBIA STATION, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team placed fourth at its own 2017-18 season opening Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Mallard Creek Golf Club. 

BW was fourth of four teams with a two-day total stroke of 753 on the par-72 and 5,900-yard Mallard Creek layout.  The University of Mount Union was the team champion with 687 strokes. 

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore Emily Hunt (Marysville) as she placed tied for 15th with a career-best two-day total of 182, including firing a career-best 90 in the second round.  Junior Grace Magee (Skaneateles, N.Y.) carded rounds of 96 and a career-best 86 for a total of 182.  Junior Erinn Maynard (New London) tallied rounds of 99 and a career-high tying 93 for a tournament total of 192.  Sophomore Hannah Durst (Madison) shot rounds of 101 and career-high tying 96 for a two-round total of 197.  Rounding out the top five was graduate student Nikki Gannon (North Ridgeville) as she had rounds of 114 and 103 for a total of 217.

Playing as individuals were freshmen Rachel Lyons (Gray, Ga./Jones County), freshman Rachael Sladky (North Olmsted), freshman Aubrey Baumler (Huron) and freshman Danielle Randle (Chicago, Ill./Lindblom Math & Science Academy).  Lyons fired a career-best 97 in the first round and finished with a 99 in the second round for a total of 196. Sladky had 112 in the first round and finished with a career-best 101 in the second round for a total of 213. Baumler tallied a 117 in the first round and finished with a career-best 110 in the second round for a total of 227. Randle had 121 in the first round and finished with a career-best 116 in the second round for a total of 237.

BW is back in action on Sunday, September 10 when it travels to Alliance to compete in the Raider Fall Invitational hosted by the University of Mount Union at the Tannenhauf Golf Club.
