BEREA, Ohio –  The 2016-2017 Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team and four-year Head Coach John Kapusta enters its season with the goal of contending for an Ohio Athletic Conference title.

Kapusta returns four letterwinners and two of his top scorers from last year's team that finished seventh at the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.  In collegiate women's golf, the team scores is determined on the four lowest rounds carded by the five individuals.

"We have one of the youngest teams in the conference," said Kapusta. He continued, "The year ahead is promising with a team that has great potential for growth and improvement."

Leading the returners are sophomores Madison Trenkamp (Villa Hills, Ky. / Villa Madonna Academy) and Grace Magee (Skaneateles, N.Y.). Trenkamp averaged a 94.44 per round and Magee averaged a 99.12 strokes per round.

The other returning veterans are senior Kelsey Johnson (Carmel, Ind. / Park Tudor) and sophomore Erinn Maynard (New London).  Johnson, who played her first season of golf in 2015-16, had a 123 average while Maynard fired an average of 102.21 in her first season.

In addition to his veterans, Kapusta welcomes four newcomers in Hannah Durst (Madison), Emily Hunt (Marysville), Allison Mills (Dover) and Alexis Wilkinson (Dover) as each will look to fill out the top five this season.

The collegiate golf season is divided into a fall and spring schedule and the Yellow Jackets open their 2016-17 campaign on Saturday and Sunday, September 3-4 when they travel to Granville to compete in the two-day Lynn Schweizer Invitational hosted by Denison University at the Denison Golf Club. The 2017 OAC Championships will be contested in late April at the River Greens Golf Club in West Lafayette.
