Clark Scores 20 as Women Basketball Falls in OAC Contest at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio -- Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC forward Sydney Clark (Parma/Lake Ridge Academy) scored a game-high 20 points, grabbed four rebounds and had three blocked shots but the Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team fell short in a 58-53 OAC loss to Wilmington College on Hermann Court inside the Fred Raizk Arena. 

BW (11-2, 4-2 OAC) also had senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC point guard Mackenzie Colombo (Strasburg) chip in 10 points and senior All-OAC forward Clara Lemmon (Canton/ Louisville) grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Wilmington (8-5, 4-2 OAC) had three players score in double figures, led by Ja'Cole Tabor with 13 points. Also, Mackenzie Campbell tallied 11 points and Brittany Jefferson had 10.  Mary Moyer grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first quarter when Colombo knocked down a jumper at the 8:44 mark.  The Quakers responded with a 9-2 run to take a 9-7 advantage on three-pointer by Savannah Hooper at 5:04.   BW outscored Wilmington 8-7 the remainer of the period and led 17-16 when freshman guard Kasey Hughes (Springboro) buried at three as time expired.

The Yellow Jackets started the second quarter on 9-4 run to take a 26-20 lead on a jumper by Clark at the 6:58 mark.  BW outscored the Quakers 10-9 the remainder of the period and lead 36-29 going into the locker room. 

Wilmington opened the second half on a 6-3 run to cut BW's lead to 39-35 on a layup by Campbell at the 6:00 mark. The Quakers tied the game at 44-44 after three periods as they closed the third quarter on a 9-5 run.

Wilmington began the final quarter on a 7-2 run to take a 51-46 lead on a layup by Jefferson at the 4:44 mark. The Yellow Jackets answered with a 7-4 run to cut The Quaker lead to 55-53 on a three-pointer by Clark at 1:54. The Quakers sealed the victory as it hit three from the charity stripe down the stretch.
