MARIETTA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team posted a 67-52 Ohio Athletic Conference victory against Marietta College in the Ban Johnson Arena.
BW (13-6, 9-3 OAC) splits the season series with Marietta (10-9, 4-8 OAC) and has won 9 of the last 10 meetings against the Pioneers. The Yellow had three players score in double figures led by junior point guard Mackenzie Colombo (Strasburg) with a team-high 15 points. Colombo has now scored in double figures in three of the last four games and seven times on the season. Junior forward Sydney Clark (Parma/Lake Ridge Academy) tallied 12 points and senior guard Janaya Feaster (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) contributed 10 points.
Sophomore point guard Brooke Borich with a game-high 16 points led Marietta.
The Pioneers jumped out to an early 10-6 lead on a three-pointer by Megan Dixon at the 6:43 mark. BW responded with a 10-6 run of its own to tie the game at 16-16 on a layup by freshman guard Alex Starr (Millersburg/West Holmes) at 1:24. The Yellow Jackets outscored Marietta 3-1 down the stretch and led 19-17 after one period of play.
BW opened the second stanza on a 5-0 run to extend its lead to 24-17 on a triple by freshman guard Hannah Fecht (Hilliard/Davidson) at the 6:17 mark. The Pioneers closed out the half on an 8-0 run to lead 25-24 at the intermission. Marietta regained the lead on trey by Brooke Borich with 23 seconds remaining.
The Yellow Jackets opened the second half on a 16-3 run to take a 41-27 advantage on a layup by freshman forward Rachel Womeldorf (Lewis Center/Olentangy) at the 4:30 mark. The Pioneers outscored BW 6-5 the remainder of the third quarter but trailed 46-33 after three periods of play.
Marietta opened the fourth quarter on a 7-5 run to cut the lead down to 51-40 on a triple by Dixon at the 7:05 mark. The Yellow Jackets answered with a 13-5 run to push their lead to 64-45 on a trey by sophomore guard Katie Smith (Fairview Park/Fairview) at the 2:58 mark. The Pioneers outscored BW 7-3 down the stretch.
