Four Softball Players Selected to All-OAC Team

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Four Baldwin Wallace University softball players have been selected to the 2022 All-Ohio Athletic Conference as voted on by the coaches in the league

Junior right hander Nikki Camarati (Brunswick/Holy Name), junior Academic All-OAC second baseman Alicia Saxton (Boardman) and sophomore shortstop Emily Mau (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) were named to the first-team.   Senior Academic All-OAC designated player Ashley Matousek (Sagamore Hills/Akron Archbishop Hoban) was selected to the second-team.

Camarati, who earns her third straight first-team accolade, led the OAC in strikeouts with 199.  She finished the season with eight wins and two saves in 22 appearances.  Camarati was fourth in the league with a 2.20 earned run average (ERA).  

For her career, Camarati has a record of 43-23 with seven saves in 84 appearances and 427.1 innings pitched. She is the BW record-holder for strikeouts with 649.  She also is second in wins with 43, fourth in ERA with 1.88, fourth in innings pitched, tied for fourth for complete games with 47. Camarati also holds the single season record for wins with 20 victories.  She is a nine-time OAC Pitcher of the Week recipient and the 2019 and 2021 OAC Pitcher of the Year Award winner.

Saxton, who garners her first career honor, had career-highs in every statistical category.  She appeared and started in 35 games.  Saxton was second on the team with a .343 batting average.  She recorded 35 hits, 12 runs scored, 12 runs batted-in (RBIs), nine walks, six doubles and five stolen bases.  In the field, Saxton tallied five putouts and 32 assists.

For her career, Saxton has appeared in 56 games and is batting .307 (39-for-127) with 18 runs scored, 14 RBIs, 11 walks, seven doubles and five stolen bases.  She has recorded 67 putouts and 44 assists.

Off the field, she is a two-time Academic All-OAC performer, Dean's List Student, Jacket Scholar and member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.  

Mau, who earns her second career honor, led the team and was fourth in the OAC with a career-best .409 batting average (47-of-115).  She tallied 27 runs scored, a career-high 18 stolen bases, career-best 12 RBIs, eight walks, five doubles, her first career triple and her first career homerun, which was an inside the park dinger. 

For her career, Mau has appeared and started in 72 games and is batting .376 (91-of-242).  She has recorded 56 runs scored, 33 stolen bases, 19 RBIs, 16 walks, 11 doubles one triple and one homer.  In the field, she has tallied 108 putouts and 99 assists.

Off the field, Mau is a Dean's List student.

Matousek, who garners her third career accolade and second straight second-team honor, led the team with 10 doubles and was fifth on the team with a .301 batting average (34-of-113).  She tallied 16 RBIs, 14 runs scored, 12 walks, a career-high four stolen bases and three homeruns.

For her career, Matousek ranks sixth in school history with 35 doubles, tied for sixth in homeruns with 14 and 11th for doubles in a season with 12.  She hit .326 (126-of-386) with 88 RBIs, 58 runs scored, 30 walks, six stolen bases and one triple.

Off the field, Matousek is an Academic All-OAC performer, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.

BW finished the 2022 campaign with an overall record of 13-23 and a 7-11 mark in the OAC.
