Softball Ends Season in OAC Tournament Semifinals

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The third-seeded Baldwin Wallace University softball team ended its season as it was defeated by second-seeded Muskingum University in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal game on the Donna J. Newberry Field. 

Muskingum (28-12) will now host the OAC Tournament Championship series beginning on Saturday, May 15 against fourth-seed Ohio Northern University, who knocked off top-seed and No. 18-nationally ranked University of Mount Union, at 1 p.m.

BW (22-15) was held scoreless on five hits.  The Fighting Muskies scored four runs on 11 hits as they plated three runs in the second and one in the fifth.

The Yellow Jackets tallied five base knocks, including three extra base hits.  Junior Academic All-OAC left fielder Amanda Crisler (Lorain/Amherst) went 1-for-2 with her first collegiate triple and a walk.  Freshman right fielder Julia Gersey (Solon) was 1-for-2 with a double.  Freshman catcher Bridie Bricker (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) went 1-for-3 with a double.   Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC second baseman Alex Kozich (Avon) was 1-for-4 with a stolen base.

In the circle, junior All-OAC right hander Nikki Camarati (Brunswick/Holy Name) took the loss as she allowed four runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
