WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team split an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader with Wilmington College at the Wilmington Softball Complex.

BW (9-11, 3-5 OAC) and Wilmington (9-10, 2-6 OAC) were originally scheduled to play on Saturday afternoon but the games were postponed due inclement weather and to field conditions.

The Quakers won the first game by a score of 6-3.  The Yellow Jackets won the nightcap by a final score of 13-3 in sixth innings.

In game one, BW scored three runs on six hits as they plated one run in the first, fifth and seventh innings.  Wilmington scored six runs on 15 hits as they scored one run in the first inning, three runs in the fourth and two in the sixth.

The Yellow Jacket offense was led by junior All-OAC shortstop Erica English (North Olmsted) as she went 2-for-4.  Senior pitcher Sam Mott (Frewsburg, N.Y./Central) and sophomore pitcher Nikki Turner (Hudson) accounted for the Yellow Jackets only extra base knocks and runs batted-in (RBIs).

In the circle, Mott took the loss as she allowed four runs (three earned) on 11 hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.  Turner pitched the final two innings and allowed two runs on four hits with two strikeouts.

In game two, BW scored a season-high 13 runs on a season-best 16 hits as it plated one run in the first and second innings, three runs in the third and fourth innings, two runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth.  The Quakers scored three runs on six hits as they scored one run in the first and two in the fourth.

The Yellow Jacket offense was led by Mott, junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC right fielder Alexis Boledovic (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) and sophomore center fielder Macy Leach (Westerville/Central) as each tallied a career-high tying three hits.  Mott was 3-for-3 with a walk and RBI.  Leach was 3-for-4 with a career-best three RBIs.  Boledovic went 3-for-5 with a career-high three RBIs.  Freshman left fielder Hailey Owens (Lakewood) was 2-for-3 with her first career homerun and a career-high three RBIs.  Junior catcher Sami Minor (North Royalton) was 2-for-3 with a RBI and run scored.

In the circle, freshman lefty Abby Cosart (Lima/Bath) won her second career OAC game as she allowed three runs on six hits with a career-best four strikeouts.

BW is back in action on Monday, April 9 when it hosts a rescheduled non-conference doubleheader against Oberlin College on the BW Softball Field at 4 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets return to Ohio Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, April 11 when they host a doubleheader against Ohio Northern University at 3 p.m.
