Softball Drops Season Finale Doubleheader to Otterbein on Seniors’ Day

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team closed out the regular season portion of its schedule as it dropped and Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader to Otterbein University on the BW Softball Field at the Roehm Athletic Complex.

Otterbein (30-8, 15-3 OAC), who won the OAC regular season title for the second straight season, won the opening game by a final score of 4-0 and won the nightcap by a score of 1-0.

In game one, BW (16-16, 9-9 OAC) was held scoreless on three hits.  The Cardinals scored four runs on 10 hits as they plated two runs in the first and fourth innings.

The Yellow Jackets got one each from junior All-OAC shortstop Erica English (North Olmsted), sophomore second baseman Alex Kozich (Avon) and freshman third baseman Alex Dick (Elyria).

In the circle, freshman left-hander Abby Cosart (Lima/Bath) suffered the loss as she allowed four runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts and one walk.   Cosart ends her first season with a record of 7-5.

In game two, BW was held scoreless on five hits.  Otterbein scored one run on five hits as it scored the only run in the sixth inning.

The Yellow Jackets got a base knock each from senior pitcher Sam Mott (Frewsburg, N.Y./Central), junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC right fielder Alexis Boledovic (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark), junior designated player Sami Minor (North Royalton), junior left fielder Abbie Thompson (Madison) and Dick

In the circle, Mott took the loss as she allowed one run on five hits with four strikeouts and one walk.   Mott ends the season with a record of 6-10 and a career mark of 16-22 with 214 strikeouts.
