Youthful Men's Cross Country Sets Sights on Return in 2021

BEREA, Ohio - Under the guidance of Head Coach Joe Eby, the Baldwin Wallace University men's cross-country team will aim to make achievements in the Ohio Athletic Conference for 2021.

BW returns to action this season after not being able to compete in 2020. Eby, who is in his sixth season as head coach, returns one letter winner and two Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference performers while welcoming seven newcomers to the team this fall

Headlining the returners are junior Academic All-OAC runner Zach Riggins (Wexford, Pa. / Pine-Richland), sophomore Academic All-OAC runner Nick Dascani (Toledo / Springfield) and sophomore Lucas Simonetti (Pittsford, N.Y. / Sutherland). Riggins and Dascani each ran in the 2019 OAC Championships and the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships.

Freshmen Alex Yarian (East Canton), Joseph Kelly (Lakewood), Connor Foody (Pittsburgh, Pa.), and Robert Bolen (Mansfield) will all make their college running debuts this fall for the Yellow Jackets.

"We have a young team that has a lot of potential this year after having a big learning curve last year" said Eby "It's going to be an exciting year ahead and I'm hopeful they can continue to work towards our goals such as a conference championship. There are many unknowns such as last year, but I believe we have a squad that is capable to rise and exceed expectations."

The Yellow Jackets open the 2021 season on Wednesday, September 1 when they travel to Wooster to compete in the annual The College of Wooster Invitational on the L.C. Boles Memorial Golf Course at 6 p.m
