Men's Cross Country Starts New Era in Impressive Fashion

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's cross country teams started its new era in an impressive fashion as all 12 runners finished in the top 20 at the 2015 season opening unscored College of Wooster Invitational at the L.C. Boles Memorial Golf Course.

BW was led by sophomore Brady Jeffers (South Amherst/Firelands) as he finished first of 22 competitors in the 5k race in a time of 18:28.2.   Overall, the Yellow Jackets had eight of the top 10 finishers, including sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC runner Brian Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) who finished second in a time of 18:29.6.

In addition to Jeffers and Brennan, BW had the fourth through nine finishers cross the line. Freshman Creighton Jensen (Sheffield Lake/Brookside) was fourth in 20:09.3, sophomore Justin Swords (Brunswick) was fifth in 20:09.5, freshman Phil Spronz (Strongsville) was sixth in 20:09.6, sophomore Evan Milovich (Westlake) was seventh in 20:09.7, freshman Todd Cushing (Plymouth, Mass. /Plymouth North) was eighth in 20:10.02 and freshman Spencer Mahon (North Royalton) was ninth in 20:45.1
 

The Yellow Jackets also had four other runners finish in the top 17.  Freshman Cullen Grude (Wakeman/Firelands) was 13th in 22:02.3, sophomore Dylan Tanner (Mentor) was 14th in 22:35.1, senior Alex Fuhrmann was 15th in 22:35.8 and senior Aaron Long (Mishawaka, Ind. /Penn) was 17th in 23:01.2.

BW is back in action this Saturday, September 5 when it travels to Delaware to compete in the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational at 11:15 a.m.
