Kyle Mars

Kyle Mars was named the first head men's volleyball coach in program history at Baldwin Wallace University on September 23, 2019 and enters his fourth season in 2024.

Coaching Career

  • Finished with a 26-8 record in 2023 after going just 8-18 a year prior
    • Led the Yellow Jackets to their first ever MCVL Championship
    • Clinched an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament
  • In 2021, led BW to a 6-10 record in the first men's volleyball season in program history
    • Recorded the first win in program history against the University of Olivet (Mich.) by a score of 3-0 on Saturday, February 6
    • Coached the school's first Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League selection
  • Started the men’s volleyball program at Hiram College, with inaugural season in 2018
    • Coached AMCC Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-Conference Selection in 2018.
    • Won 13 matches over two seasons.
  • Served as the Head Women’s Coach at Hiram College in 2018
    • Led team to 23-5 record, and first appearance in NCAC conference final since 2012.
    • 3 All-NCAC selections
  • Graduate Assistant Coach for Elmira College men’s volleyball (’15,’16 seasons)
    • Helped the program to consecutive 20-win seasons and AVCA Top 15 Rankings.
    • Mentored five All-United Volleyball Conference selections, including the 2016 Libero of the Year, and two American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American selections.
  • USA Volleyball High Performance Championships (2017-2019) - selected as Head Coach for the Ohio Valley Region Boys’ HP Program.
    • 2017 Boys Youth Team – 6th place finish
    • 2018 Boys Youth Team – Bronze Medal winner
    • 2019 Boys Select Team – Bronze Medal winner
  • Co-Founder and Club Director – Everest Boys Volleyball Club (2018-Present)

As a Player

  • USA Volleyball Youth National A2 Training Program (’07)
  • Member of USA Volleyball Junior National Training Team (’08) in Colorado Springs
  • Four-time letter winner in Men’s Volleyball at Penn State University
    • A part of four consecutive EIVA Conference Champions (2010-2013), four-time NCAA Semifinalists and an NCAA Championship runner-up finish in 2010.

Personal

  • Grew up in Rochester, N.Y. and was a standout player at Gates Chili High School and Pace Bootlegger Volleyball Club
  • Earned a degree in telecommunications from Penn State University in 2013 and a Master's degree in management from Elmira in 2016.
  • Resides with wife Kerrie in Brunswick, OH
