Men's Volleyball Falls to Trine (Ind.) in MCVL Tournament Semifinals

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The second-seeded Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team concluded its season as they fell to the third-seed Trine (Ind.) University in a five-set thriller in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Tournament Semifinals hosted by Wittenberg University in Pam Evans Smith Arena.

BW finishes the season with a record of 13-14 and a record of 7-2 in conference play. Trine (18-6) advances to the MCVL Championship Game where they will face the first-seed Wittenberg on Saturday, April 13 at 3 p.m. in Pam Evans Smith Arena.

BW Leaders

  • Senior All-MCVL setter Brandon Long (Hinckley/Metea Valley [Ill.]) tallied a team-high 48 assists in his final game for the Brown and Gold
  • Freshman outside hitter Daniel Latham (Westerville/Westerville Central) and freshman libero Jack Sullenberger (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) each led the Yellow Jackets with 15 digs: a new career-high for both
  • Senior All-MCVL outside hitter Michael Beard (Hilliard/Darby) registered double-digit kills for the 20th time this season as he finished with 13 kills and seven digs
  • Junior All-MCVL middle hitter Reed Fisher (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area) recorded five total blocks including one block solo
  • Senior Academic All-MCVL outside hitter Nick Irelan (London/Olentangy Liberty) finished his BW career with nine kills and nine digs
  • Latham also led the team in kills with 17 and added three total blocks earning him a spot on the 2024 MCVL All-Tournament Team

Trine Leaders

  • Junior right-side hitter Kevin Boncaro led all players with 22 kills
  • Senior outside hitter Ted Hofmeister, the MCVL Offensive Player of the Year, and senior libero Henry Haas, the MCVL Defensive Player of the Year, each recorded a game-high 19 digs
  • Senior right-side hitter Nick Woolley assisted a game-high 51 times
