Pierce Named Men’s Volleyball Graduate Assistant Coach

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Men's Volleyball Head Coach Kyle Mars has announced the addition of Declan Pierce as the new men's volleyball graduate assistant coach.

"We are excited to add Declan to our staff as a Graduate Assistant starting this season," Coach Mars said on the addition of Pierce. "Declan brings a wealth of recruiting experience, as well as defensive and serve receive experience coming the highest level of competition as a player. His work ethic, teaching ability and knowledge of the game is a huge match for this program's culture as we continue to build and improve." 

Pierce, who will be the third Pennsylvania State University alumni on the upcoming 2023 spring coaching staff, reigns from NCAA Division II D'Youville (N.Y.) College as an assistant coach. Pierce's main responsibilities included recruiting, assisting in practice plans, drafting strength and conditioning workouts, and creating scouting reports. While at D'Youville, Pierce also served as a University Recruiter where he attended local high school Career Fairs, collaborated with prospected students during all cycles of enrollment, and connected with many difference departments on campus.

"I am thrilled to join the Baldwin Wallace Men's Volleyball Team and the Community," Pierce stated. "I believe Coach Mars has created a strong foundation for enhancing team success and is a reliable role model for his student-athletes. I look forward to this opportunity to learn and work together."

Pierce competed on the Penn State Men's Volleyball team from 2016 to 2020 where he was named Academic All-Big Team in 2019 and was an Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Conference Champions in 2017. While at Penn State, Pierce also worked in the Kinesiology Department as an Assistant to Alumni Relations Coordinator and completed an Athletic Training Internship.

While at BW, Pierce will be pursuing an MBA in Sport Management. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in Movement Science from Penn State in 2020.

Pierce has also competed for the Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club and was a camp coach at the Eden Mizuno Volleyball Instructional Camps and the Penn State Men's Volleyball Camps. His volunteer work includes working with United Way Day of Caring and the Centre Region Down Syndrome Society.
