Men’s Volleyball Falls to Mount Union in Regular Season Finale

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team closed their regular season as they fell to the University of Mount Union in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League doubleheader inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Center

Mount Union (12-2, 12-2 MCVL) took the first match in four sets by scores of 16-25, 19-25, 25-18, and 16-25. The Purple Raiders won the second match in four sets as well by scores of 25-20, 19-25, 14-25, and 18-25.

In the first match, BW (6-10, 6-10 MCVL)  was led by freshman outside hitter Kāmau Maka'ike (Hilo, Hawaii/Kamehameha Schools) with 14 kills. Freshman setter Brandon Long (Hinckley/Metea Valley {Ill.}) proved to be a vital force in the offense with 36 assists. Leading the defensive line was freshman defensive specialist Joe Meyer (Waterford, N.Y./Shenendehowa) with 10 digs and Long with nine digs.

Leading the offense for the second match was freshman outside hitter Michael Beard (Hilliard/Darby) with 13 kills. Long ran offesne with 31 assists. Beard also led the defense with 12 digs, supported by Meyer 10 digs.

The MCVL Tournament is scheduled for April 9 and 10 and will feature the top four teams on the campus of the regular season champion.
