Men's Track and Field Takes Seventh After Day One at OAC Championships

BEREA, Ohio -  The Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field team hosts the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships inside George Finnie Stadium. BW is currently in seventh after day one with 7 points. Currently sitting in first is John Carroll University with 66 points. 

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included: 

  • Sophomore Carter Almady (Brunswick) placed 11th in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 9:43.97. 
  • Freshman Alex Yarian (East Canton) finshed 18th in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:33.32.
  • Freshman Robey Bolen (Mansfield / Ontario) placed 19th in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:38.75.
  • Freshman Joe Kelly (Lakewood) placed 18th in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 34:13.37. 

Field events highlighted:

  • Sophomore Joe Barnes (West Plains, Mo.) placed fifth in javelin throw with a distance of 155' 2" and 11th in discus throw with a distance of 129' 10".
  • Freshman Brennan Beil (Canfield) finsihed 21nd in javelin throwwith a distance of 113' 2"
  • Freshman Thomas Hickman (Oxford / Talawanda) placed eighth in discus throw with a distance of 135' 0".
  • Freshman All-OAC Mason Kiesel (New London / South Central) placed 16th in discus throw with a distance of 125' 6".
  • Freshman Kaleu Tellas (Indianapolis, Ind. / International School of Indiana) finished 20th in discus throw with a distance of 117' 4". 

On the relay side:

  • The 4x800 meter relay squad of freshmen Connor Foody (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny), sophomore Jackson Tucker (Akron / Lake Center Christian School), sophomore Gehrig Stanley (Twinsburg / Benedictine) and freshmen Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon) placed seventh in a time of 8:10.99. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow, Friday May 6th for the final day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships. Field events start at 11am and running events at 3pm.
