Men Tracksters Set Seven Career-Bests at Gator Invitational

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Gator Invitational hosted by Allegheny College. 

This was the first of three last chance meets for the Yellow Jackets to improve on their NCAA marks or to qualify for the NCAA National Meet.

Junior thrower Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/Riverside) led the way as he placed second in the hammer with a career-best toss of 192 feet and 11 inches and placed sixth in the discus with a career-best throw of 153'02.  Burdorff's mark in the hammer is the seventh best in Division III this season.

In addition, freshman Zak Dyset had career-best marks as he was eight in the javelin with 160'2", 10th in the hammer with 111'2" and 15th in the discus with a 117'7".   Freshman thrower Ian Ramos (Norwalk) took eighth in the hammer with a mark of 149' and was 12th in the discus with a toss of 126'08". Assistant Coach Kevin Phipps, who was competing as unattached athlete, won the hammer throw with a stadium record throw of 207'.

In the running events, junior All-American Ben Beidleman (Washington, D.C. /St. Anselm's Abbey) was second in the 200-meter dash in a season-best time of 21.69 seconds and third in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.84.  Senior Isaac Baker (Lithia, Fla./Newsome) took sixth in the 400-meter run as he crossed the finish line in a career-best time of 49.47.  Sophomore Troy Robinson (Akron/Garfield) placed fifth in the 200-meters in a career-best time of 22.29 sixth in the 100-meters in a time of 11.28.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Robinson (Akron/Garfield), Ben BeidlemanBaker and junior Michael Beidleman (Washington, D.C. /St. Anselm's Abbey) finished in a time of 41.71 seconds.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Monday, May 11 when they travel to Delaware for the Ron Althoff Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
