BEREA, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University junior All-American sprinter Ben Beidleman (Washington, D.C./ St. Anselm's Abbey) has been selected as a first-team CAPITAL ONE Division III Academic All-American for the second straight year.

It is the mix of academics and athletics that helps Beidleman symbolize the CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American program and the philosophy of the NCAA Division III student-athlete.  In addition to carrying a 3.985 grade point average and being an NCAA Division III All-American, he is a two-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference and two-time first-team CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7 selection.

In the classroom, Beidleman is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and member of the Alpha Lambda, Dayton C. Miller and Chi Sigma Alpha honoraries.

On the track, Beidleman earned Division III All-American honors in the 200-meter dash at the 2014 Div. III National Championship Meet when he placed eighth. He also competed at both this year's Div. III national indoor and outdoor championship meets.

This winter indoors, Beidleman set a school record in the 200-meter dash (22.18 seconds) and was a member of the record-setting 4x200-meter relay team (1:29.85). He also placed 13th in the 200 meters at the 2015 NCAA Div. III National Championship Meet.  This spring, Beidleman was a member of BW's 12th place 4v100-meter relay team at the 2015 Div. III Outdoor National Championship Meet. Overall, he is a six-time All-OAC and six-time All-Ohio competitor and is both an OAC and All-Ohio Meet champion in the 200-meters.

"Ben had another outstanding year both in the classroom and on the track," said recently retired Head Track and Cross Country Coach Dr. Bill Taraschke. "To be almost perfect in the classroom is quite an accomplishment all by itself. Ben not only was one of the best academically, he also was one of the best sprinters in all of Division III."

BW has a rich tradition of strong academics and athletics. Its ninety-five (95) all-time Academic All-Americans ranks first among OAC institutions and second among all small colleges in Ohio.
