Men’s Tennis Opens Fall Season at Allegheny (Pa.) Invitational

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team opened the fall portion of its 2023-24 schedule by competing at the unscored Allegheny College Invitational

In singles action, BW was led by sophomore Joe Donnelly (Lodi/Cloverleaf), sophomore Jacob Weingart (Tiffin/Columbian) and junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Adam Zeidler (Bay Village/Bay) as the trio went 2-0 on the weekend. 

  • Donnelly defeated Dillon Murphy of Juniata (Pa.) – 6-2 and 6-3
  • Donnelly defeated Nick Bussard of Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) – 6-3 and 7-6 (7-2)
  • Weingart defeated Evan Nelson of Allegheny – 6-2, 2-6 and 1-0 (11-9)
  • Weingart defeated Reid Stasolla of Allegheny – 6-0, 4-6 and 1-0 (10-5)
  • Zeidler defeated Ezebba Emuka of Juniata (Pa.) – 6-2 and 6-4
  • Zeidler defeated Dario Wolfe of Allegheny – 6-1 and 7-5 

In doubles action, the Yellow Jackets were led by the teams of junior All-OAC player Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) and sophomore All-OAC player Will Horvath (Oregon/Clay) and junior Tyler Perkins (Geneva) and Zeidler.   McGee and Horvath went 3-0 while Perkins and Zeidler went 2-0.

  • McGee/Horvath defeated Jackson Akers and Nick Kubik of Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) – 6-2
  • McGee/Horvath defeated Anthony Lounder and Ben Walerstein of Rochester Institute of Technology (N.Y.) – 6-4
  • McGee/Horvath defeated David Mnuskin and James Foster of Oberlin – 6-0
  • Perkins/Zeidler defeated Basile Gandon and Arthur DeYoung of Juniata (Pa.) – 6-4
  • Perkins/Zeidler defeated Dillon Murphy and Emuka of Juniata (Pa.) – 6-0

BW is back in action on Saturday, September 9 when it travels to Washington, Pennsylvania for a pair of non-conference matches against Washington & Jefferson College and Penn State Behrend College inside the Janet Swanson Tennis Center at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively.
