Men's Tennis Competes at ITA Central Regional Championship

ST. LOUIS - The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association over the weekend, September 23-25.

Singles Play (1-6)

  • Senior All-OAC Trey Kernan (Penfield, N.Y.) fell in the first round against Turnbull from Illinois Wesleyan University, 1-6, 0-6
    • In 32nd round, fell to Ciuca from Lake Forest, 3-6, 0-6
  • Sophomore All-OAC Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) fell in the first round against Walentowicz from University Of Chicago, 1-6, 2-6
    • In 32nd round, won by retirement over Peck from Earlham 
    • In 16th round, fell to Siriwanic from Ohio Wesleyan, 4-6,6-2, 5-10 
  • Freshman Will Horvath (Oregon / Clay) fell to Patterson from Denison in the 16th round, 2-6, 2-6
    • In the quarterfinal, fell to Zylstra from DePauw, 2-8

Doubles Play (2-2)

  • Kernan/McGee defeat Gurzell/Malcolm in the 64th round from Albion College, 8-5
  • Kernan/McGee fall to Pocasangre/Kallarakal in the 32nd round from Kenyon College, 8-2
  • In the 16th round, Kernan/McGee defeat Kalinowski/Ancieta from Hendrix, 8-6
  • In the quarterfinal, Kernan/McGee falls to Portnoy/Patterson from Dension, 3-8

BW closes the fall portion of their schedule and will return to action for the spring portion on Saturday, March 25 when it hosts Westminster College at 11:00 a.m. on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts
