Men's Tennis Opens Season in Rain Shorten Allegheny Invitational

MEADVILLE, Pa - The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team opens the 2022-23 season at the rain shortened Allegheny Invitational at the Tennis Courts at Robertson.

The invitational was scheduled to be a two day event however Sunday's matches were rained out. 

The Yellow Jackets singles highlights include:

Singles Play (Capital University, 2-2)

  • Sophomore All-OAC Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) defeats Fortner, 6-3, 6-3
  • Sophomore Tyler Perkins (Geneva) defeats Havel, 6-2, 6-4
  • Freshman Gavin Binni (Sylvania / Northview) falls to Ritchie, 6-1, 6-2
  • Sophomore Jack Hindman (Avon) falls to Secrist, 6-1, 6-2

Singles Play (Allegheny College, 2-1)

  • Freshman Jacob Weingart (Tiffin / Columbian) defeats Kisie, 6-4, 6-2
  • Freshman Will Horvath (Oregon / Clay) defeats Voisey, 6-1, 6-2
    • Second Match: defeats Gonzalez, 6-1, 6-2
  • Freshman Henry Harders (Ottawa Hills) falls to Nelson, 7-6(4), 7-6(5) 

Singles Play (Oberlin College, 1-1)

  • McGee defeats North, 6-3, 6-3
  • Senior All-OAC Trey Kernan (Penfield, N.Y.) falls to Foster, 0-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8)

Singles Play (Edinboro University, 0-1)

  • Freshman Joe Donnelly (Lodi / Cloverleaf) falls to Valero, 6-3, 6-1

BW return to action on Saturday, September 10 when it travels to Westminster, Pa. to take on Westminster College at 9:30 a.m. on the Titan's Tennis Courts.
