Men’s Tennis Opens OAC Play with a Victory over Mount Union

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team opened Ohio Athletic Conference play with a victory versus the University of Mount Union by a 6-3 final score on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.

BW improves to 10-2 (1-0 in OAC) on the season with the win.  Mount Union falls to 1-8 (1-2 in OAC) with the loss.

Doubles Play (BW, 2-1)

  • The No. 1 doubles duo of junior Trey Kernan (Penfield, N.Y.) and freshman Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) won by a final score of 8-1.
  • Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Anthony Tosatto (Creston/Norwayne) and senior Edwin Schartman (Westlake) lost the No. 2 doubles match 8-5.
  • The No. 3 duo of freshmen Aidan Hicks (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida) and Adam Zeidler (Bay Village/Bay) won by a score of 8-2.

Singles Action (BW, 6-3)

  • McGee won No. 1 singles with scores of 6-1 and 6-2
  • Kernan fell short in the No. 2 match by scores of 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (12-10)
  • Hicks won by scores of 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6)
  • Tosatto lost by scores of 6-0 and 6-2
  • Zeidler won with scores of 6-0 and 6-1
  • Freshman Jack Hindman (Avon) won by scores of 6-0 and 6-1

The Yellow Jackets, who was or were scheduled to play Ohio Northern University on Wednesday, April 13 but that match has been postponed due to inclement weather, is back in action on Friday, April 15 when it hosts Otterbein University at 1 p.m.  The match will Ohio Northern will now be played on Friday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m.
