Men’s Tennis Falls to Capital

BEXLEY, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's team fell to Capital University in the final Ohio Athletic Conference match of the regular season. The Yellow Jackets fell 5-4 at Wolfe Park.

With the defeat, BW moves to 11-6, 2-4 OAC and Capital climbs to 9-13, 3-3 OAC.

Doubles (BW, 2-1)

  • The No. 1 pairing of junior Trey Kernan (Penfield, N.Y.) and freshman Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) secured an 8-4 victory over Leonardo Abreu and Colin Welch.
  • In the No. 2 spot, junior All-OAC Anthony Tosatto (Creston/Norwayne) and freshman Caleb Reed (Wilmington) fell by a score of 8-4 to Alex Stout and Spencer Surles.
  • The freshmen pairing of Aidan Hicks (Oneida, N.Y.) and Adam Zeidler (Bay Village/Bay) swept Aaron Askew and Jesse Stevens in the No. 3 doubles, 8-0.

Singles (Capital, 5-4)

  • McGee got BW on the board in singles action with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Abreu at No. 1.
  • In the No. 2 spot, Kernan fell by scores of 7-5, 6-3 to Stout.
  • Tosatto dropped the No. 3 singles to Spencer Surles by scores of 6-3, 6-1.
  • At No. 4, Zeidler fell to Welch by scores of 6-3, 6-3.
  • In the deciding match, freshman Jack Hindman (Avon) fell to Stevens by scores of 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
  • At No. 6, Reed picked up a victory over Askew by scores of 6-2, 6-4.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Tuesday, May 3 in the OAC Quarterfinal as they will travel back to Bexley for a rematch with the Comets. BW will be the No. 5 seed in the OAC Tournament and Capital will be the No. 4 seed.
