Men’s Tennis Finishes Season as It Drops OAC Tournament Semifinal Match to Ohio Northern

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team closed out the season as it fell to Ohio Northern University in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal match sponsored by Skyline Chili by a final score of 5-1 at the Queen City Racquet Club. 

BW (12-7), who was the fifth seed, and Ohio Northern (21-4), who was the regular season champion and top seed, were scheduled to play at the Lindner Family Tennis Center but had to move indoors due to inclement weather.

Doubles Action (ONU, 2-1)

  • Junior Trey Kernan (Penfield, N.Y.) and Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) won at first doubles by a score of 8-5
  • Junior All-OAC Anthony Tosatto (Creston/Norwayne) and freshman Caleb Reed (Wilmington) fell at second doubles by a final score of 8-1
  • Freshmen Aidan Hicks (Oneida, N.Y.) and Adam Zeidler (Bay Village/Bay) fell at third doubles by a final score of 8-0

Singles Play (ONU, 5-1)

  • McGee was trailing at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-2, 3-0 when the match concluded.
  • Kernan was trailing in an unfinished match by scores of 6-1, 1-0.
  • Hicks dropped No. 3 singles by scores of 6-0, 6-2
  • Tosatto fell at No. 4 singles by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
  • Zeidler dropped No. 5 singles by scores of 6-0, 6-1.
  • Freshman Jack Hindman (Avon) did not get play at No. 6 singles before the match concluded.
