Men’s Tennis Takes Down Westminster (Pa.)

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -  The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis took down non-conference opponent Westminster (Pa.) College by a final score of 7-2 on the Titan's Tennis Courts. 

BW (3-0) opened the match taking two out of the three doubles. The No. 1 pair of junior Trey Kernan (Penfield, N.Y.) and freshman Matt McGee (Ottawa Falls) cruised to an 8-1 victory to start things off. The No. 3 duo of senior Edwin Schartman (Westlake) and freshman Adam Zeidler (Bay Village/Bay) also took home an 8-1 victory. 

In the singles portion of the match, the Yellow Jackets were able to pull off a 6-0 sweep. In the No. 1 spot, McGee continued to dominate as he brought a home a victory of 6-0, 6-0. In the No. 2 spot, Kernan also continued his great start to the season with a win. Freshman Aidan Hicks (Onieda, N.Y.) got back on a track with a three-set victory by scores of 6-1, 5-7, and 1-0 (6). Freshman Caleb Reed (Wilmington) won in the No. 5 spot with scores of 6-4 and 6-1. In the match that pulled off the in for BW, freshman Jack Hindman (Avon) secured the win by scores of 6-3 and 6-1. 

The Yellow Jackets look to stay hot as they travel to Erie, Pa. on Saturday, Sept. 25 to take on Penn St. Behrend at 10:00 a.m. and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at 2:00 p.m. Both matches will take place on the Penn St.-Behrend Tennis Courts.
