Men’s Tennis Drops Regular Season Finale to Capital

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team concluded its regular season with a narrow 5-4 loss to Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts. 

BW (1-3, 1-3 OAC) was led in doubles action by the combination of sophomore Anthony Tosatto (Creston/Norwayne) and junior Edwin Schartman (Westlake), who earned an 8-0 victory in the No. 2 contest. BW came up short in the other two hard-fought doubles matches.

BW took three out of six singles matches. First, Tosatto defeated Capital's Allan Huang 6-2, 6-1 to claim the No. 3 match. Schartman secured the No. 4 match with a 7-5, 6-0 victory. Senior Michael Benotti (Pittsford, N.Y./Mendon) took the No. 2 match with a 7-6 (7-5 tiebreaker), 1-6, 13-11 super tiebreaker victory.

BW begins its postseason at the OAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Tuesday, May 4, at 3:30 pm.
