HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team recorded its second shutout of Defiance College in the 2017-18 season, winning 9-0 at the Evian Tennis Center.

Featuring a slightly different lineup, BW (8-0) went on to win all three doubles points. Junior Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete Roger Boyer (Medina/Brunswick) and junior Ben Binion (Shelby) paired together at No. 3 doubles and did not miss a beat, cruising to an 8-1 victory. Senior Alex Papke (Federal Way, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) and sophomore ITA Scholar Athete Jake Elbin (Findlay) also won by a score of 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. Junior ITA Scholar Athletes and All-Ohio Athletic Conference players Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) and Matt Harris (Akron/Revere) were the last doubles team on the court at No. 1 but outlasted their Defiance (1-4) opponents 8-3.

The singles lineup returned to normal with BW dominating the courts. With only four courts in use, Polifrone, Boyer, freshman Michael Benotti (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) and Papke played first with Harris and Elbin following suit at No. 2 and No. 3. No BW player surrendered more than four total games in singles.

BW will be back in action on Monday, March 5, against Lynchburg (Va.) College at 12:30 p.m. at the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center in Hilton Head.
