Men’s Tennis Volleys Past Ohio Northern

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team defeated Ohio Northern University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match by a final score of 8-1 on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts. 

BW (15-2, 5-1 OAC) won all three doubles matches.  Sophomore All-OAC player Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) and sophomore Matt Harris (Akron/Revere) won at first doubles by a score of 8-6. Senior Academic All-OAC players Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington/Bexley) and Jake Liebler (Medina) captured second doubles by a score of 8-4.  Senior Brian Carano (Akron/Revere) and freshman Jake Elbin (Findlay) captured third doubles by a score of 8-4.

The Yellow Jackets took five of six singles matches from Ohio Northern (10-8, 2-4 OAC) to secure the win. Polifrone picked up the win at first singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-2. Harris captured third singles by identical scores of 6-1. Carano took fourth singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-2. Liebler earned the win at fifth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0.  Elbin won sixth singles by scores of 6-1 and 5-2 (retired). 

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 22 when it travels to Bexley for an OAC match against Capital University on the Capital Tennis Courts at 1 p.m.   The Yellow Jackets return home on Sunday, April 23 when they host close out the non-conference portion of their schedule with a reschedule match against Bethany (W. Va.) College at 1 p.m.
