Men’s Tennis Falls to Cross-town Rival John Carroll on Seniors’ Day

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team closed out the regular season portion of its schedule as it was defeated by cross-town rival John Carroll University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match on Seniors' Day by a final score of 9-0 on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts. 

John Carroll (13-7, 8-0 OAC), who won its second straight regular season title, took all three doubles from BW (16-3, 6-2 OAC).   Senior Academic All-OAC players Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington/Bexley) and Jake Liebler (Medina) had the closest match as the fell by a score of 8-4.

The Blue Streaks won all six singles matches to secure the win.  Freshman Jake Elbin (Findlay) dropped a hard-fought match at sixth singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-3. 

The Yellow Jackets will enter next week's OAC Tournament as the third seed and will host a quarterfinal match on Tuesday, May 2 against an opponent yet to be determined.   The winner of the quarterfinal matches advance to the semifinals on Friday, May 5 at the Linder Family Tennis Center in Mason.   The OAC Championship will be played on Saturday, May 6.
