Men’s Tennis Rallies to Defeat Capital in Road Finale

BEXLEY, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team rallied to defeat Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match by a final score of 5-4 on the Capital Tennis Courts. 

BW (16-2, 6-1 OAC) and Capital (6-15, 3-4 OAC) were originally scheduled to play on Saturday, April 22 but moved the match up a day to forecasted inclement weather in the Columbus area on Saturday.

The Crusaders won two of three doubles matches to take the early 2-1 advantage. Senior Brian Carano (Akron/Revere) and freshman Jake Elbin (Findlay) picked up the lone victory at third doubles by a score of  

The Yellow Jackets won four of six singles matches to rally back for the victory. Sophomore Matt Harris (Akron/Revere) captured third singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-0. Senior Brian Carano (Akron/Revere) took fourth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-1. Senior Academic All-OAC player Jake Liebler (Medina) secured the win at fifth singles by identical scores of 6-0.  Elbin won sixth singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-2. 

BW was set to return to action on Sunday, April 23 when it was to host a rescheduled non-conference match against Bethany (W. Va.) College but that match has been cancelled due to not enough Bison players available to play.   

The Yellow Jackets will close out the regular season portion of its schedule on Sunday, April 30 when they host a rescheduled OAC match against cross-town rival and OAC-leading John Carroll University on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 1 p.m.
