BW and Otterbein Battle in Highly Contested OAC Men’s Tennis Match

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team dropped a highly contested 6-3 Ohio Athletic Conference match against Otterbein University on the Otterbein Tennis Courts.
 
The Yellow Jackets (15-3, 4-2 OAC) won two of three doubles matches and the Cardinals (9-10, 5-2 OAC) won five of six singles.
 
In doubles play, the number two tandem of sophomore Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington/Bexley) and Jake Liebler (Medina) won by a score of 8-4 to improve to 12-7 on the season.  Junior Kevin Fredrick (Archbold) and sophomore Brian Carano (Akron/Revere) won their third singles match by a score of 8-5 and upped their record to 15-5. 
 
In singles action, four of the six matches came down to a third set.  Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC player Doug Ganim (Olentangy/ Orange) recorded the lone singles victory as he posted a three set number victory at number two singles by scores of 1-6, 6-2 and 6-2.   Ganim improved to 18-3 on the season and 60-13 in his career. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Thursday, April 23 when they host a rescheduled OAC match against cross-town rival John Carroll University on the Pop Collins Courts at 3:30 p.m. BW ends the regular season on Friday, April 24 when it travels to Bexley for a rescheduled OAC match against Capital University on the Capital Tennis Courts at 3:30 p.m.
 
The OAC Tournament is set to begin on Tuesday, April 28 on the campus of the higher seed.  The semifinal and championship matches are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2 in Mason at the Linder Tennis Center.
