Men’s Swimming and Diving Defeats Randolph Macon (Va.)

SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team defeated Randolph Macon (Va.) College in a non-conference dual by a final score of 92-75 at the Arlington Park Aquatic Complex. 

BW (9-1) won five individual events and both relays.

Individuals

  • Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC stroker Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Park) won the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 26.09 and the 100-yard individual medley in a career-best time of 55.44
  • Junior freestyler Austin Kingsley (Northpoint, N.Y.) won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.19 and the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 1:52.69
  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Mason Kooyman (Concord Township/Chardon) won the 50-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 24.92 and was second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.97

Relays

  • The 200-yard medley relay team of Kingsley, junior stroker Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas), McQueary and Kooyman won in a time of 1:41.00
  • The 200-yard freestyle unit of Kooyman, junior freestyler Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area), Kingsley and junior stroker Luke Minick (Stow/Akron Archbishop Hoban) won in a season-best time of 1:31.03 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, January 13 when they travel to nearby Wooster for a non-conference dual meet against The College of Wooster in the Timken Natatorium inside the Armington Physical Education Center at 1 p.m.
