Men's Swimming and Diving Earn Two Wins in Non-Conference Matchup

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team earned two victories against Buffalo State University and State University of New York at Fredonia at Kissinger Pool 

BW (5-0) won 13 out of 16 events, as it defeated Buffalo State by a final score of 220-46 and Fredonia State, 212-55. 

The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included: 

  • Freshman Kevin Meyer (Mentor) won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:32.31
  • Sophomore Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) won in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:49.83 and won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 54.49 seconds
  • Freshman Nolan Szuch (Springboro) won the 100-meter backstroke in a time of 58.58 seconds and placed second in 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:06.32
  • Sophomore Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:04.75 and won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:08.12
  • Sophomore Luke Minick (Stow / Archbishop Hoban) placed third in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:19.81
  • Junior Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon) won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.48 seconds and won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.37
  • Freshmen Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich. / Saline) won 1-meter with a score of 208.65 and 3-meter dive with a score of 251.90
  • Sophomore Gavin Skwirut (Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) won the 200-yard breaststoke in a time of 2:36.60
  • Sophomore Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon Area) placed second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:13.41

BW relays were highlighted by:

  • The 200-freestyle relay team of Kooyman, Skwirut, Mellett, and senior Austin Olsavsky (Medina) won in a time of 1:31.77
  • The 200-medley relay squad of SzuchTafoya, Minick and Kooyman won in a time of 1:45.17

The Yellow Jackets return to the pool on Saturday, November 5 when it hosts Ohio Wesleyan University inside the BW Natatorium
