BW Men’s Swimming Loses Home Opener to Penn State Behrend

BEREA, Ohio – The Yellow Jackets men's swimming team opened the home portion of its schedule against visiting Penn State Behrend (Pa.) University in the BW Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.

The BW men (2-4) lost to Penn State Behrend, 127-61. The men's team had one individual winner and five runner-up finishes.

Sophomore All-OAC swimmer Jacob Burk (Bowling Green) led the way with one individual win and had runner-up finish.  Senior Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills/ Nordonia) and freshman Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) both had two runner-up finishes. Junior Justin Allison (Napoleon) also had a second place finish.

 won the 1650-yard freestyle with a final time of 17:33.89 and was second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.05. Gerber finished runner up with a season best time in the men's 400-yard individual medley with an impressive finish of 4:30.48 and in the 500-yard freestyle he had a wall touch of 5:16.83. Thompson placed second in the men's 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.76 and the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.38.

The Yellow Jackets remain at home on Friday, November 21 for an OAC dual meet with the University of Mount Union at 6 p.m. BW then hosts Hiram College in a non-conference dual meet the next day on Saturday, November 22 at 1 p.m.
