MARIETTA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team defeated Marietta College in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener by a final score of 2-0 on Marietta Field.
BW Leaders (5-5-1, 1-0 OAC)
- Senior forward Julian Kieres (Lakewood) scored two goals, one in each period
- Senior midfielder Alex Gibson (Olmsted Township / Olmsted Falls) provided the assist for Kieres in period one
Marietta Leaders (2-7-1, 0-1 OAC)
- Junior goalkeeper Joey Backhaus made four saves on six shots
- Senior midfielder Reggie Grayek made three shots
First Half
- BW outshot Marietta 7-4
- Marietta made two saves
- The Yellow Jackets and Marietta each had one corner kick
Second Half
- The Yellow Jackets won the corner kick battle by a 4-2 margin
- Marietta outshot BW 6-5
- Senior forward Julian Kieres (Lakewood) scored the game's second goal at the 76:23 mark
BW is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 4 for its Ohio Athletic Conference home opener against the University of Mount Union on Tressel Field at 7 p.m.
