BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team won its first game of the 2023 season hosting Bluffton University by a final score of 4-2 at Tressel Field in Finnie Stadium.
BW Leaders (1-2-1)
- Freshman forwards Alex Horak (Ravenna / Theodore Roosevelt) and Jacob Frank (Dublin / Coffman) each scored their first collegiate goal.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Sam Cipriano (Massillon / Jackson) made two saves, one in each period.
Bluffton Leaders (2-2)
- Junior midfielder JJ Meyer kicked the game's first goal at the 19:32 mark in period one.
- Junior midfielder Andrew Clark had the most shots of the game with three.
First Half (1-1)
- The Yellow Jackets won the corner kick battle by a 4-0 margin.
- Bluffton outshot BW 3-2.
- BW and Bluffton were tied at three shots on goal each.
Second Half (4-2)
- BW made five corners on Bluffton's four.
- Bluffton and the Yellow Jackets made five shots each.
- Senior forward Michael Tusick (Strongsville) boosted the BW lead to 4-2 with an unassisted goal.
The Yellow Jackets return to Tressel Field on Tuesday, Sept. 12 for their second home game of the season against Thiel (Pa.) University at 7:00 PM.
