Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Hiram

BEREA, Ohio – For just the second time this season, the Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer posted a shutout as it blanked Hiram College in a non-conference game by a final score 7-0 on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.

BW Leaders (7-0-1)

  • Senior midfielder Nick Surowicz (Medina/Highland) scored two goals for his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
  • Sophomore midfielder Tommy Buser (Akron/Revere) scored two goals for his third goal of the season.
  • Senior midfielder Dylan Keeling (Rocky River), senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Shaheen Ghahremani (Streetsboro) and freshman defender Ben McCauley (Tallmadge) all contributed one assist.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy (Lakewood/St. Edward) led with one save.

Hiram Leaders (1-6)

  • CJ Timm led with seven saves.

First Half (3-0, BW)

  • Surowicz started the scoring with a header off a corner kick from Keeling.
  • Buser scored the second goal off a rebound.
  • Freshman forward Max Yakym (Parma/Normandy) scored the third goal of the game, unassisted.
  • BW led the half with 14 shots.
  • The Yellow Jackets led the half with six corner kicks.

Second Half (7-0, BW)

  • Buser started off the second half with an unassisted goal.
  • Surowicz scored off a free kick for the second goal of the half.
  • Junior forward Julian Kieres (Lakewood) scored his second goal of the season off an assist from McCauley.
  • Sophomore forward Evan Scott (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) scored his first goal off an assist from Ghahremani.
  • BW led the half with 17 shots while holding the Terriers to zero shots.
  • The Yellow Jackets led the half with two corner kick opportunities. 

BW is back in action on Saturday, September 24 when the team hosts a non-conference game against Earlham (Ind.) College at 7:00 p.m. on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.
