Men’s Soccer Falls to OAC Leader and Cross-Town Rival John Carroll

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team was defeated by Ohio Athletic Conference leading and cross-town rival John Carroll University by a final score of 2-1 on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium

John Carroll (7-5-1, 4-0 OAC), who has now won its last four contests all of them coming against conference opponents, opened the scoring when junior midfielder Jake Lombardo stole a pass and knocked it far post past the BW (4-10, 1-3 OAC) goalkeeper just five minutes into the game.
 

The Yellow Jackets tied the game at 1-1 when sophomore forward Ryan Hassell (Southhampton, BERMUDA/Western Reserve Academy) headed the cross from freshman midfielder Timmy Jonas (Fairview Park/St. Edward) past the Blue Streak keeper at the 48th minute mark. 

John Carroll regained the lead at 2-1 when junior forward Jesse Marinaro scored on the cross from sophomore defender Brian Lutz at the 65th minute mark. 

BW freshman goalkeeper Patrick Mehal (Richfield/Revere) suffered the loss but made a career-high 10 saves.
